Chicago Tribune : Swipe or dip? It's the dilemma more consumers will face at retail checkout starting next week as they try to use their new, more-secure credit and debit cards. Oct. 1 is the target date for many retailers to begin using their new payment machines that require customers to dip their credit or debit card into a slot and leave it there for a few seconds to complete the transaction, as opposed to the customary swipe before signing.
