Times Of India : When Sashank's car collided with a truck recently on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, he was saved in time by the Gurgaon Police. Sashank gives credit to an app, Safely Home, which on its own sent out a message to the nearest police control room, ambulance service and his wife.
Unlike other safety apps, one doesn't need to press any emergency button to send an SMS. Your smartphone sends out an SOS to the police, ambulance and family when the phone senses any impact.
Sashank is one of the lucky 20% who survived a serious accident due to timely help. But 80% of the victims of road accidents don't get timely medical attention and 60% die because of this, according to a study."Technology can help in a great way. We integrated mobile sensors and patterns to build the application. The aim is to help road accidents victims," said 20-year-old Ishan Jindal, a student of IIT-Delhi, the brain behind the development of the app.Click Here To Read More.
