TechRadar : Canadian manufacturer DataWind is apparently planning to launch budget 4G LTE smartphones in the sub-Rs 3,000 segment. The word comes directly from the company's CEO Suneet Singh Tuli.
As of now, the cheapest 4G LTE smartphones available in the country are all priced close to Rs 4,999, so DataWind's offerings could certainly set the tone for the market.
The company has also mentioned that it will open two manufacturing plants in India to serve this purpose, with a capital of Rs 200 crore said to be invested. DataWind claims that these manufacturing units will be set up by early-2016 and once completed, these factories will be able to churn out at least 5,000 smartphones every day.
