The Times Of India : Nagpur: Taking advantage of people's social media dependence, cyber criminals have devised a novel way of phishing — luring people into getting more followers on Instagram. Users of the photo sharing platform who post pictures whose caption contain popular hashtags are among those being targeted. These scammers are using the offer to phish for Instagram login credentials and to drive users to survey scams. This trend was discovered by the security response team of IT security giant Symantec Corporation recently. Pictures posted with popular hashtags like #throwbackthursday find luring link in the comments that promise a certain number of followers on being clicked without any monetary charge for the users. These links are usually in a particular format like 'CLICK_HERE_GET_###_FOLLOWERS' with the number of followers being offered ranging from 100 to 343.Click here to know more.
